Larry will arrive in Montana with Bethany. Lynette will be shocked when she sees Bethany.
Dec 28,2025
Larry sat quietly in the living room, scrolling through his phone, his expression serious and distant. Bethany noticed it right away. She had learned to read his silence over time—it always meant something important was coming.
“Larry,” she said softly, setting her coffee cup down. “What’s on your mind?”
He looked up, hesitated for a moment, then sighed. “I need to tell you something.”
Bethany’s heart tightened. “Okay… go ahead.”
“I’m going to Montana,” Larry said. “Jayden is about to have his baby. I’m going there for my grandson’s birth.”
The words hit Bethany harder than she expected. For a moment, she just stared at him. Montana. Lynette. Old memories. Old wounds.
“Montana?” she repeated slowly. “You didn’t think to talk to me about this first?”
Larry frowned. “It’s my grandson, Bethany. I have to be there.”
“I understand that,” she replied, her voice calm but firm. “But what I don’t understand is why you’re acting like I don’t exist in this decision.”
Larry leaned back. “Bethany, it’s complicated. I’ll go alone and come back quickly.”
Her eyes widened. “Alone?” she asked sharply. “So you expect me to just stay here while you go back into that life?”
“That’s not fair,” Larry said. “This isn’t about Lynette. This is about family.”
Bethany stood up. “Exactly. Family. And I’m your wife.”
Larry shook his head. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to come.”
That was it. Bethany crossed her arms, her patience slipping. “And why not?”
“Because emotions will be high. Lynette will be there. I don’t want drama.”
Bethany let out a bitter laugh. “So the solution is to leave me behind? Wow, Larry. That really makes me feel valued.”
“That’s not what I mean,” he said quickly. “Please try to understand.”
Bethany stepped closer, her voice low but intense. “No, Larry. You need to understand me. Your grandson is being born, and I want to be there with you. I want to support you.”
Larry rubbed his forehead. “Bethany, please. Let’s not turn this into an argument.”
Too late.
“I’m going with you,” she declared.
Larry looked up sharply. “No, you’re not.”
Bethany’s jaw tightened. “Excuse me?”
“I said no,” Larry repeated. “This trip is already stressful enough.”
Bethany pointed toward the door. “Then don’t go.”
Larry stood up. “That’s not an option.”
“Then neither is leaving me behind,” she fired back. “You can’t just decide things without me.”
Silence filled the room. Larry stared at her, realizing how serious she was. Bethany wasn’t asking—she was standing her ground.
“You’re being stubborn,” he said.
“And you’re being selfish,” she replied.
Larry took a deep breath. “Bethany, please. I just want peace.”
Bethany’s eyes softened for a moment, but her resolve didn’t. “Then let me come with you. I won’t cause trouble. I promise.”
He hesitated. “You don’t know Lynette like I do.”
“I don’t need to,” Bethany said confidently. “I know myself.”
Larry paced the room, torn between logic and emotion. “This isn’t easy for me.”
“It’s not easy for me either,” she said quietly. “But marriage means standing together—even when it’s uncomfortable.”
Her words hit him hard. Larry stopped pacing and looked at her. “You really won’t let this go, will you?”
Bethany shook her head. “No. I won’t.”
He studied her face, her determination unshaken. Finally, he sighed. “You’re impossible.”
A small smile appeared on Bethany’s lips. “You married me knowing that.”
Larry chuckled despite himself. “Fine. You’re coming with me.”
Bethany’s smile widened. “Thank you.”
“But,” he added quickly, “no drama.”
She raised her hand. “I swear. I’ll be on my best behavior ๐.”
The flight to Montana was tense but quiet. Larry kept thinking about what awaited them. Bethany, on the other hand, was calm. She knew showing strength didn’t always mean being loud.
When they arrived, the cold Montana air greeted them. As they entered the house, a familiar voice echoed through the hallway.
“Larry?”
Lynette stepped forward—and froze.
Her eyes landed on Bethany, and shock spread across her face. “Bethany?” she whispered. “What are you doing here?”
Bethany met her gaze, composed and confident. “I came with my husband.”
Larry cleared his throat. “We’re here for the baby.”
Lynette’s lips pressed together, her surprise obvious. “I didn’t expect this.”
Bethany smiled politely. “Neither did I, but here we are.”
The tension was thick, but Bethany refused to let it shake her. She placed her hand gently on Larry’s arm, silently reminding him they were a team.
As they walked inside, Larry realized something important—bringing Bethany hadn’t made things harder. It had made him stronger.
And for the first time since planning the trip, he felt at peace. ❤️
