When Larry finally told Bethany the truth, his voice was calm but firm.
“Jaden doesn’t want you to go to Montana,” Larry said quietly.
Bethany froze. “What do you mean he doesn’t want me to go?” she asked, disbelief clear in her eyes.
“He made it very clear,” Larry replied. “He wants to go alone.”
Bethany’s expression changed instantly. Frustration and hurt took over. “No,” she said sharply. “I’m going with you to Montana. I don’t care what he wants.”
Larry shook his head. “Bethany, please understand. I’m not forcing this. Jaden doesn’t want you there, and I’m not going to push him.”
Bethany stepped closer, her voice rising. “Why are you choosing him over me?” she demanded. “I’m your partner. I should be with you.”
“This isn’t about choosing,” Larry said, trying to stay composed. “This is about respecting boundaries.”
But Bethany wouldn’t listen. “I will go to Montana with you,” she insisted. “You can’t stop me.”
Larry sighed deeply. “I’m sorry, Bethany. I won’t take you if Jaden isn’t comfortable.”
That night, Bethany barely slept. Her mind raced with questions, doubts, and anger. What if Larry is lying? she thought. What if Jaden never said that? 😔
The next morning, driven by anxiety and desperation, Bethany picked up her phone and called Jaden.
📞 Ring… Ring…
“Hello?” Jaden answered.
“Hi Jaden,” Bethany said, trying to sound calm. “I need to ask you something.”
“Sure,” he replied. “What’s going on?”
Bethany hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Do you really not want me to go to Montana with you?”
There was a pause on the line.
“What?” Jaden asked, confused. “Why would you think that?”
“Larry told me,” Bethany said softly. “He said you don’t want me there.”
Jaden frowned. “That’s not what I said,” he replied. “I never said I didn’t want you to come.”
Bethany’s heart started racing. “So… you don’t have a problem with me going?” she asked.
Before Bethany could say anything more, Jaden sighed. “This sounds messy,” he said. “I should talk to Larry.”
Within seconds, Jaden ended the call and immediately dialed Larry.
📞 Ring…
“Larry,” Jaden said as soon as he picked up, “Bethany just called me.”
Larry stiffened. “She called you?” he asked.
“Yes,” Jaden continued. “She asked me why I didn’t want her to go to Montana. I didn’t even know this was an issue.”
Larry’s jaw tightened. Anger rushed through him. “I’ll handle this,” he said sharply and hung up.
Moments later, Larry confronted Bethany.
“Why did you call Jaden?” he demanded, his voice loud with anger 😠.
Bethany stepped back, startled. “I just wanted the truth,” she said nervously.
“The truth?” Larry snapped. “Did I lie to you? Did I ever lie?”
“I—I just wanted to hear it from him,” Bethany said, her voice shaking.
“You went behind my back,” Larry said. “You didn’t trust me.”
“I felt confused,” Bethany replied. “You said he didn’t want me there, but I needed clarity.”
Larry shook his head. “Instead of talking to me, you created more drama. Now Jaden thinks I’m lying or manipulating the situation.”
“I didn’t mean to cause problems,” Bethany said, tears forming in her eyes 😢.
“But you did,” Larry replied. “You crossed a line.”
Bethany could no longer hold herself together. Her tears began to fall freely.
“I just didn’t want to feel unwanted,” she cried. “I felt like everyone was deciding things without me.”
Larry’s anger slowly softened, but his disappointment remained. “I understand you were hurt,” he said, calmer now. “But trust is important. If you don’t trust me, this won’t work.”
Bethany wiped her tears, her voice barely a whisper. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have called him.”
Silence filled the room.
“This situation could have been handled better,” Larry said finally. “By all of us.”
Bethany nodded, still crying. “I just wanted honesty,” she said.
“And you deserve honesty,” Larry replied. “But honesty also requires patience and trust.”
The damage, however, had already been done. What started as a simple trip to Montana had turned into a test of trust, communication, and emotional boundaries—one that left all three of them shaken. 💔
