Bethany nervously held her phone in her hands, staring at Jaden’s name on the screen. After a long pause, she finally gathered the courage and pressed call.

“Jaden… please,” Bethany said softly when he answered. “Let me come to Montana. I need to see you.”

On the other end of the line, Jaden went silent for a moment. “Bethany, you know this isn’t a good idea,” he replied firmly. “Things are already complicated here.”

Before the call could continue, Larry walked into the room and immediately sensed something was wrong. “Who were you talking to?” he asked sharply.

Bethany hesitated. “I… I called Jaden.”

Larry’s expression changed instantly. His jaw tightened, and anger flashed in his eyes. “You did what?” he snapped. “Why would you call him after everything I told you?”

“Because I deserve a chance to explain myself,” Bethany replied, her voice shaking but determined. “Running away won’t fix anything.”

At that moment, Brooke, who had been listening from the corner, laughed mockingly. “Montana?” she scoffed. “Are you serious, Bethany? That place is crazy, just like this whole idea. You think going there will magically fix things?”

Bethany’s eyes filled with tears, but instead of backing down, she straightened her posture. “You calling me crazy doesn’t change the truth,” she said firmly. “And Montana isn’t the problem. People avoiding the truth are.”

She turned toward Larry, her voice stronger now. “If you really believe I’m wrong, then come with me. See everything yourself.”

Larry looked at her for a long moment. He was angry, conflicted, and exhausted—but he also saw something else in her eyes: honesty. After a deep sigh, he nodded. “Fine,” he said. “I’ll come with you. But I’m responsible for whatever happens next.”

When they finally arrived at Jaden’s house, Bethany’s heart began to race. The door opened before they could knock.

Behind her, Jaden stepped forward, and the moment his eyes landed on Bethany, his face hardened. “What is she doing here?” he demanded angrily. “I clearly said no.”

Lynette scoffed. “And what if she creates more drama?”

Bethany finally found her voice. “I didn’t come here to cause trouble,” she said softly. “I came here to tell the truth.”

Larry nodded in support. “She won’t do anything wrong. I give you my word,” he said. “Just listen to her. That’s all I’m asking.”

The room fell silent. Jaden looked at Bethany—really looked at her—for the first time since she arrived. Her eyes weren’t demanding. They were pleading.

After a long pause, he exhaled slowly. “Fine,” he said quietly. “But this better be worth it.”

Bethany swallowed hard and nodded. “It will be.”
