Chairs are neatly arranged, the hum of fluorescent lights above, and the distant beeping of monitors in nearby rooms.
Bethany sits on a sofa, scrolling absentmindedly, her face pale and eyes tired but alert.
BETHANY: (softly, curious) Another message from Larry… what now?
She unlocks the phone and sees a group photo. Her eyes widen in shock.
BETHANY: (voice shaking, whispering) Oh… my… God…
The Photo
Her hands tremble as she holds the phone closer. The sound of her heartbeat seems to echo in the quiet hospital room.
Larry leans against the wall outside, watching her reaction from afar.
LARRY: (to himself, softly) She needed to see this… now she knows.
He straightens, anticipating her next move.
Processing Shock
Bethany drops onto the sofa, clutching her phone. She replays the photo repeatedly, each viewing deepening her shock.
BETHANY: (voice breaking) Jaden… a child… and… Larry…
BETHANY: (whispering, panicked) Why didn’t anyone tell me? How… how could I not know?
Tears form, she buries her face in her hands, the hospital’s background fading away.

BETHANY: (angry, emotional) Larry… why would you send this now?
