When Shayla goes to Amber’s house to take Kai back, a fight breaks out between Amber and Shayla.

Angelina’s warning echoed over and over in Shayla’s mind, refusing to fade no matter how much she tried to ignore it. During the divorce, Kai should not be sent to Anthony’s house. The words carried weight, not just as advice, but as a warning shaped by experience and concern. Shayla didn’t fully agree with everything Angelina said, but deep down, she knew there was truth in it. After days of inner conflict, she made a difficult decision—she would follow Angelina’s advice.

But there was one problem standing in her way. Amber. 💔

Amber had formed a bond with Kai that was impossible to overlook. It wasn’t something casual or temporary. She loved him deeply, fiercely, as if he were her own child. In Amber’s home, Kai had found warmth, laughter, and a sense of safety that had slowly healed parts of him no one else could reach. Amber had been there for him in ways Shayla and Anthony, caught in their own battles, hadn’t always managed to be.

That’s why, when Shayla arrived at Amber’s house that afternoon, the atmosphere changed instantly. The air felt heavy, as if both women already knew this moment would not end peacefully. ⚡

Amber opened the door, her expression shifting from surprise to unease the moment she saw Shayla standing there.

“I’m here to take Kai,” Shayla said, her tone calm but firm.

Amber’s face hardened almost immediately. She stepped outside slightly, closing the door behind her as if to shield Kai from what was about to unfold.

“No,” Amber replied, her voice shaking but resolute. “I’m not sending him.”

Shayla blinked, caught off guard by the immediate refusal. “Amber, don’t make this difficult. This isn’t your decision.”

“I said no,” Amber repeated, more firmly this time. “He’s not going anywhere.”

The tension between them thickened. Shayla could feel her patience slipping, but she tried to hold onto her composure.

“He’s my responsibility,” Shayla insisted, taking a step forward. “I’m his guardian. You don’t get to decide where he stays.”

Amber’s eyes filled with emotion, but her stance didn’t weaken. “And what about what’s best for him?” she shot back. “Have you even thought about that? Or are you just following orders like this is some kind of arrangement?”

“That’s not fair,” Shayla snapped, her voice rising despite her efforts to stay calm. “You don’t know what I’m dealing with.”

“And you don’t know what he needs!” Amber fired back. “He needs stability. He needs someone who’s actually there for him!”

The argument escalated quickly after that. Voices grew louder, sharper. Old frustrations, unspoken feelings, and buried resentments surfaced all at once. 😠

“This is not your place!” Shayla said, her frustration boiling over. “You’ve gotten too involved!”

“Too involved?” Amber laughed bitterly. “I stepped in when no one else did! When everything around him was falling apart, I was the one holding things together!”

The words hit harder than Shayla expected. For a moment, she hesitated. Because part of her knew Amber wasn’t entirely wrong. But she couldn’t let that stop her now.

“I’m taking him,” Shayla said firmly, pushing past Amber and heading toward the door.

Amber tried to stop her, grabbing her arm. “Shayla, don’t do this. Please. You’re going to hurt him.”

But Shayla gently pulled away. “This isn’t your call.”

Inside, Kai stood quietly, his small figure frozen with confusion and fear. He looked between the two women, not fully understanding the situation, but feeling the tension deeply.

Shayla softened when she saw him. “Kai,” she said gently, kneeling down. “Come on, we’re leaving.”

Kai hesitated. His eyes drifted toward Amber, silently asking what he should do.

Amber’s heart broke in that moment. She forced a small, reassuring smile, even though tears were welling up in her eyes. “It’s okay,” she whispered. “Go with her.”

Reluctantly, Kai walked over to Shayla, taking her hand. But he kept looking back at Amber, as if afraid this might be goodbye.

As Shayla led him toward the door, Amber stood there, unable to move. The house, once filled with warmth and laughter, suddenly felt empty and cold.

At the door, Shayla paused for just a second. She didn’t turn back, but her voice softened slightly. “I didn’t want it to be like this.”

Amber didn’t respond. She couldn’t. The weight of everything she felt was too heavy for words.

The door closed.

Silence filled the space.

Both women were left shaken—one walking away with a heavy heart, the other standing still with tears finally falling freely.

What they had shared once—a bond of trust, friendship, and understanding—now felt fragile, like it could shatter completely at any moment.

The question lingered between them, unspoken but painfully clear.

Was this the end of Amber and Shayla’s friendship forever?

Or just a painful chapter in a story that wasn’t finished yet? 💭
